We love hearing travel stories from our guests, especially those like the one we received from Marijke & Jacob Jan! Not only did they share their story, they even showed us their funny video driving from Wellington to Auckland in an Explorer campervan.

A Happy Campervan Couple

This is what Marijke & Jacob had to say about renting a campervan from Bay of Islands Campervans: In Jan-Feb ’13, we rented 6 weeks an Explorer from Bay of Islands Campervans – we have yet to see a better campervan! Often, other campers [we met on our trip] asked to have a look inside as they could not hide their curiosity… We noticed a lot of benefits:

SIZE: The campervan is smaller than most other campers with these facilities.

FLOOR PLAN: Very efficient. You can rotate the front seats, lift the bed for easy storage underneath and no need to make the bed every night as there is also a fixed seat.

EXTRAS: The campervan comes with Wi-Fi on board, table, and chairs, barbecue, pepper/salt, coffee, and tea + (good) breakfast at Baystay Bed & Breakfast and transfers to and from the airport. All necessities we had to separately pay for when rented with other companies!

COMMUNICATION: Communication with the owners, Nick and Rob is going very smoothly, [because] they speak Dutch as well and want to help with all your questions. They can also help with plotting your route. Despite the time difference, they are also quick with answering questions. Send an e-mail one day and the next day you have your answer.

STORAGE: The campervan had lots of space to put / stuff. The fridge is larger than most homes.

COMPLETENESS: Everything you need is there. Sufficient crockery (of all 4 instead of 2), sufficient cutlery, sharp knives, enough pans, 2 kitchen towels, 2 tea towels, 2 bath towels, 2x bed, everything.

TECHNOLOGY: Powerful engine (130 Multijet), strong going in mountains, stable handling, refrigerator runs on 230V, 12V and gas, which was also great. The money’s worth! Thank you!  Marijke en Jacob Jan (Netherlands)  Go to Rankers NZ
